Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood is the principal Scientific Advisor to the Governement of India (PSA to GoI) from April 2022. He is the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology & Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC). His work has been recognized by many awards: including the Padma Shri, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and many more.
Prof Abhay Karandikar is currently Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Science of Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology. Before joining DST in October 2023, he served as the Director, IIT Kanpur during April 2018 to September 2023. Prof Karandikar is, best known for his exceptional contributions in the field of telecom technology development and global 5G/6G standards.
Dr. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, is an Ayurvedic doctor, served as the Vice Chancellor of Jamnagar-based Gujarat Ayurveda University during 2013-2016. He was appointed as Secretary of Ministry of AYUSH in the Government of India in July 2017. He has bagged many laurels and distinctions: Global Ayurveda Physician Award in 2007; Ayurveda Ratna Award in 2008 and Padmashri Award for Medicine in 2015, to name a few.
Dr. (Mrs) N. Kalaiselvi assumed charge as Secretary, DSIR and Director General, CSIR, New Delhi on August 8, 2022. Dr. Kalaiselvi is the first women Director General of CSIR. Prior to taking over as Secretary, DSIR and DG, CSIR, she was working as Director, CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Karaikudi.
Dr. Samir V Kamat has taken over as Secretary DDR&D and Chairman Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on 26th Aug 2022. Dr. Kamat has spearheaded the development of naval systems such as advanced light weight torpedo, anti-torpedo decoy systems, autonomous underwater vehicles, advanced hull mounted and towed array sonars for ships and fuel cells based air independent propulsion systems for submarines.
Dr. M. Ravichandran is the Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Earth Science, since Oct 2021. He was Director, National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa during 2016-2021. He worked as a Physical Oceanographer at Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (ESSO-INCOIS), Hyderabad (2001-2016), before joining at NCPOR.
Dr Mangi Lal Jat currently serves as the Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General (DG) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Government of India. He served at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) contributing to global agricultural policy and innovation.
Dr Rajiv Bahl is a physician-scientist, with specialization in paediatrics and public health. He was appointed as Secretary, Department of Health Research & Director General, Government of India from October 2022. Prior to that, Dr Bahl has held the position of Head of Research on Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health at the World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva (2013-22).
Dr. V Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Space & Chairman ISRO is a Distinguished Scientist in APEX Scale and is also the Chairman of the Space Commission. As the Chief of India’s Space Agency, he provides techno-managerial leadership for achieving excellence in Space Transportation, Infrastructure and Space applications benefitting common citizens of our country as well as creating and nurturing a vibrant space eco-system in India.
Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications. He started his career as an IAS officer in 1992. He has held various administrative positions in the fields of land and revenue management, mines and minerals, IT/Communications, e-governance. He also held the position of Senior Advisor at the World Bank and served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas
Dr. R. Vijay is the Director of the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), an autonomous R&D institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He has more than 30 years of experience in R&D of advanced materials and processing technologies. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Telangana Academy of Sciences.
